Vitamins and Minerals to Help Treat Acne

By Jake Jefferson

There are lots of vitamins and minerals you can take to help you with acne. Remember, it's not going to be a quick fix and even if the vitamins and minerals you put on your skin are beneficial, remember nothing is going to change unless you have a well balanced diet.

It's quite possible that should you be afflicted with acne, you will have already visited many healthcare practitioners to speak about and seek help for the problem. If you can possibly afford it, consider speaking with an organic and natural physician who will have enough knowledge to speak to you and treat you using a holistic approach. They should look at every part of your life, including your health background to try to discover why you have persistent acne.

First things first, make sure that your diet is good. You need to eat lots of vitamins and minerals so that your body works properly from the inside out. Great foods to eat for good skin include: lots of citrus fruits for Vitamin C, lots of dark leafy greens (so you don't like dark leafy greens - that might be why you still have acne) for Vitamin A and Vitamin B, lots of apricots and other types of fruit, seeds, grains and nuts. Remember not to eat too many larger nuts because the high levels of fat they contain can make oily skin worse. Fish is also great for promoting healthy skin.

Lots of people think that a lot of chocolate can bring about bad acne, but that isn't necessarily so. Whilst a poor diet certainly can add up to an unhealthy complexion, cocoa and dark chocolate actually contains things that are fantastic for your skin and will go some way to increasing the flow of blood to your skin and also helping it to soak up UV light.

Other vitamins that are very good for the skin and can help prevent acne include Vitamin D and zinc, which lucky for us ladies is found in dark chocolate and cocoa!

If you are serious about getting rid of your acne you will need to make changes to your lifestyle and it will take time and effort. You will have to change what you eat and take more exercise as well as improving your skincare regime.
