Effective Technique Of Staying Safe When You're Out Alone

By Steven J LaPhae

Just a few months back, my big brother called me up to tell me that one of his female coworkers had been found raped and left for dead a few blocks from her apartment. He then inquired if I knew any kind of basic type of self defense for women.

I informed him that besides screaming, I knew nothing regarding safeguarding myself. My response irritated him so much that he hung up the telephone.

After some days, he sent me a text to go meet him for drinks. As soon as we were settled, he inquired if I had ever used pepper spray in my life.

Pepper spray, as he described, is a non-lethal weapon and won't cause long term damage on its target. It results in a unpleasant feeling similar to burning on the skin as well as in the eyes of an attacker. This burning sensation would incapacitate the enemy temporarily, giving enough time for the victim to leave the area.

My brother talked to me further about hot pepper sprays. The pepper solution for these types causes a stronger reaction since it has 18% pepper concentration. Some of them are keychain pepper sprays, which can be attached onto a bag for fast access.

As soon as he saw that I was pleased with his explanation, he took out of his coat pocket a 1/2 oz. Wildfire small 18% pepper spray. Its spray can reach up to 8 feet in length. This keeps the assailant from getting too close. It provides five one-second bursts, in case your very first spray was off-target, along with a quick key release keychain and a locking actuator.

I was speechless for about five seconds. The self-defense weapon was pink! He grinned and stated that there were blue, red, and black ones but he wanted to see the look on my face right after I saw pink.

Well, I took my pink pepper spray and attached it on my purse. I am definitely delighted that my big bro is thoughtful. Self defense for women felt a lot easier with a defense spray that I thought to cancel the lessons I had paid for just before my brother showed up.
