When Tom became Gucci's Creative Director in 1994 the company was on the brink of bankruptcy. Using new French Stylists and employing different photographers, he put the glamour back into Gucci. Following his new advertising campaign Gucci's profits began to rise, the company's value having risen to $4.3 billion in just 5 years, then $10 billion in 10.
His travels expanded when Gucci took over the famous Yves St Laurent business in 2002, now he was flying from Milan to Paris and to London, the home of Gucci's newest design studio. His final collections of the Yves St Laurent, Gucci and Rive Gauche brands in 2004 were an outstanding success. He then formed his own company with an old colleague at Gucci, Domenico de Sole, they called it simply "Tom Ford".
An agreement was reached with the Marcolin Group licensing the design and production of sunglasses and optical frames and to distribute them worldwide under the brand-name "Tom Ford". This collection started in 2005 and due to run until at least 2015 described as iconic, is being worn by celebrities everywhere.
Looking on the internet you will find photos of celebrities wearing Tom Ford sunglasses, there is even a site dedicated to it. Probably his most famous pair of all is the 108 model, that was worn in the film Quantum of Solace by the actor playing James Bond. These sunglasses, with smoke blue lenses, came in a special case sporting the James Bond logo and were made of rhodium in semi matte and had black temple tips. Sadly these are no longer being produced but you may be lucky enough to get one from an on-line auction site.
