Shopping For Big and Tall Men's Clothing

By Alexis D Head

Once upon a time having to shop for big and tall men's clothing was something that most men dreaded doing. Nobody likes having to shop in specialty stores, even if the clothes contained in them are beautiful. But that has all changed because the more common department stores now offer clothing for bigger men. There's also the question of vanity sizing because significantly more men are now fitting for the big and tall clothes. Still, finding just the right size clothing can be difficult if you are not of an average size. So, we're here to help you learn how to locate the right clothes you like - and that also fit right.

The main thing to keep in mind when choosing big and tall clothing is to avoid horizontal stripes. While horizontal stripes can be great on tall, thin men, they might not suit a larger body frame the same way vertical stripes might, or perhaps no stripes at all. Horizontal stripes create an illusion of making you seem wider than you are. Vertical stripes could sometimes make your torso look longer, but they can also curve around a bigger belly and make it look much more rounded. Stick to solid colors or other patterns instead.

When you decide to shop for clothes, be efficient, wear clothes and shoes you can easily get in and out of to reduce time. This will make it easier as you find items to try on. If you're like most people, all the snaps, tying/untying, and buttons is not the way to spend an afternoon or evening. It'll make it all go faster to wear clothes you can get out of and into, fast. Besides, who wants to spend all day in dressing rooms? You'll find this helpful when you're in stores that won't let you take unlimited items into a dressing room.

Look at the sales racks first. You'll find that clothes that are not selling fast often go onto the sales racks, and that includes clothes that are unusual sizes. This is because the "normal" sizes of clothing usually sell out while the clothing is regularly priced; leaving the super small sizes and the bigger sizes for the sales racks when the new season's clothing lines come in.

Look at the sales racks first. You'll find that clothes that are not selling fast often go onto the sales racks, and that includes clothes that are unusual sizes. You see, the normal size clothes always sell at the regular prices, but the unusual sizes don't sell as fast - so onto the sales racks they go. So being a size that's "not normal" can sometimes work in your favor, and you can actually save some good money.

Choosing the right clothes can be easy, regardless of what size you wear. The key is to find a look that flatters your shape and then add onto your wardrobe with styles that fit that look. As more designers begin working with big and tall men's clothing, it's becoming much easier to find plenty of choices for your clothing. Why not spend a bit of time seeing if you could create a whole new look for yourself?
